A volunteer at the eastside emailed me about a purebred Aussie who was surrendered by her owner for being "too energetic". (People just don't do their homework.) So, I went to meet Dorothy who is very friendly and well-behaved. During our short meeting/photo session she was calm and made every effort to do what was asked.

I cannot at this time take in any foster dogs. I have no choice but to say "no" to all. If I could take one, it would be very hard to decide between Dorothy at the Eastside, Topaz or Collage in Gallup, or Lita who must go somewhere very soon. If only I could take all of them! If only someone would see this message and want to adopt one of them!

Dottie is now with Zia Australian shepherds. See her contact info at <http://www.petfinder.com/petdetail/24003038?mtf=1>

This morning I hug my 6 dogs and think about the other dogs I meet every day who just want somebody to love.

Yesterday in the Gallup pound a dog was lying on his bed at the back of his kennel. He rolled over and asked me to rub his belly. I said, "I can't reach you from here". He got up and came to the wire fence and pressed against it for me to touch him. He wagged his tail and licked my fingers.

They told me he had been there too long and he was going to be put down. I hope that I have succeeded in buying some time for him. I'm calling him Topaz. I think he is a gem.

I am thinking about how happy he could be this morning if only he had someone to love, and how happy that person could be to love him.

Lita has been in and out of pounds more than once in her young life. She needs a chance at a real home, or at least a good foster home. She is very loving, smart and eager to please.

I responded to her especially because she reminds me very much of our dog Tracy, who along with Bro, motivated me to to get involved in rescue.

Lita is now with PACA in a temporary foster home. She needs a permanent home soon! To Meet LITA, contact: Trish 505.907.3791

A beautiful collage of breeds - one can only guess which ones came together to make this unique individual. I think that should be his name, Collage. He is very loving and affectionate. Nicely groomed he will be stunning!

He is in the Gallup pound. He needs to be in a home with a loving family.
